Even the Daily Show Can't Make Kerry Likeable
So my synopsis of Senator Kerry's appearance on TDS last night: Jon Stewart gave Kerry every opportunity to speak to some of the ridiculous antics that Republicans are employing, and he kind of just sat there not knowing what to say.
Both Stewart and Kerry criticized the Bush camp of just repeating talking points, but how many times did Kerry say that 40 million Americans are going without health care? That's fine, if the discussion was about health care, and he had expanded on that, but he didn't, he just kept spouting off the same talking points.
When Stewart asked jokingly, "Have you ever flip-flopped?" What did he say? "Flap-flipped?" What was that?! Come on! Come out and say that you have been consistent in wanting to apply all necessary pressure on Iraq with the appropriate levels of evidence as it is acquired and with the proper levels of support from our allies! The opposition has taken your seemingly contradictory stances out of context with the intent to confuse and minform voters! You didn't flip-flop! Just SAY IT you wuss!
Or say "Flap-Flip." Whatever works for you.
Listen, I know TDS is a comedy show, but they take some of the most serious political issues head on. I want my president to be able to come on and do that effectively. Its not impossible (cough cough Bill Clinton cough cough) to do.
Jon Stewart is capable of engaging in a very sophisitcated dialogue about political tactics and the media. Unfortunately, neither of the candidates have proven capbable of doing so. Unfortunately, I have no other choice.
I officially endorse for Jon Stewart for President of the United States.

Please show your support. I'm not actually selling these -a guy named David Benton is. This is your chance to be a part of the revolution.
Last point - Stewart made a crack about Kerry getting him on a network. You don't want to be on a network, Jon. You guys have the perfect set-up. Don't mess with it. And don't mess with Don't Mess with Texas.
